Leaders Have Followers!

You know the way to see if you’re a leader? Turn around and see if anyone’s following. Leadership has been one of the most popular topics of discussion among the scholarly elite since Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. I spend most of my days training and coaching around the topic. There are many theories on leadership out there, but the real test of leadership is followership. Do people follow you or not? So whether or not people “do it right” as leaders,  the true litmus test of a leader is if they have followers. Determining their effectiveness or the morality of their leadership is a different topic. Which reminds me of a quote that another Greek philosopher, Quintillian, said when referring to orators… “Rhetoric is the art of speaking well.” Actually, it’s “the good man speaking well.”
